16 week appt.

Today at 11:20 D and I had our 16 week appt. with a Certified Nurse Midwife. She was fantastic. Our first appt. was Oct. 20 with a Nurse Practitioner (we will see her again on Jan. 19) Our second appt. was with an ob/gyn, and today I thoroughly enjoyed the CNM. She waited while I made my way through my list of questions, listened to the heartbeat and said my bloodwork looked great. I have gained five pounds so far and that's about average (it's about a pound a month for the first three months.) We have an appt. with the Radiology dept. on Friday, Jan. 9 for the big ultrasound when they look at all the organs and tell us whether our baby will be a boy or a girl! Only 2.5 weeks! In the meantime, I am feeling good! I continue to feel the little baby bubble movements once or twice every few hours.

Babymoon

We took a "babymoon" overnight trip this Valentine's weekend down to Carlsbad. We stayed right across from the beach and had time to relax, walk on the beach, eat yummy food, shop, see my cousin C. and her fiance M., and even go to the beautiful new Encinitas library! It was a great pre-parenting getaway! Now that I'm home, I'm starting to do the heavy-duty research on what we need and don't need, and I'm realizing I don't know much! For instance-how many bottles do we need? What's the difference between travel systems, infant car seats, bases and convertible car seats? Who knew that I didn't know? Not me! Wish us luck!!
