Hospital tour!

Tonight Derek and I went for our tour of the hospital maternity wing where we will be delivering the baby in about 15 weeks! (aack!) There were about twenty-five people there for the tour so they split us into two groups. First our group visited the post-partum wing and learned about what happens after the baby is born. Then we went over to the Labor and Delivery side and sat in an L and D room (huge) and learned all about what happens there. We also got to visit the nursery and the NICU too. Go to this link for a virtual tour. It was a great experience and so comforting meeting some of the nurses and hearing about their philosophies and goals for caring for us. Did you get to see any newborn babies in the nursery while you were on your tour? I think that is when it REALLY sunk in for Auggie that we were going to have one of those. He started crying and everything. LOL

The nurses were a LOT more helpful than the dr's, of course and either have the experience themselves or from years of experience... of course they'll each have their own opinion about everything, esp. breastfeeding as I forewarned you, but just take w/ a grain of salt, right? Don't forget to give them a little gift on way out door (like chocolates or something, they'll remember it for your next time, ha! ha!) You look fabulous and this site is great by the way, finally catching up! PS: I kept saying I would keep the baby in my room all the time (but w/ Ryan and a 3am delivery) and Sean and an all day "induction" I needed a little breather and didn't feel guilty at all and by the way ALL the mothers/fathers did it, just make sure you trust the hospital and their security, but I was right next door and had 3 bands on as did Matt... though Sean's ankles were so tiny his tag kept slipping off and didn't go off, nice hunh?! : )
