up all night

me that is.

Baby is sleeping fine. Has been since 8:15 last night. This is the longest uninterrupted stretch of sleep he's had since he got his first cold around new Year's day. For the past couple of weeks, he's been waking up every hour to two hours. Now we are going on seven! Can't believe it. So of course, momma's awake because she can't believe baby's asleep. hmm.

Owen turned seven months old yesterday. (technically two days ago on the 12th, but since I'm posting in the middle of the night it seems like yesterday.) It was also the day of the tragic earthquake in Haiti, an event that has been on my mind heavily. So many lives have changed or been lost. I have been up tonight reading blogs of people (mostly Christian missionaries) living there.

Owen at seven months

He is a happy, smiley, giggly but pensive boy. He is very focused and curious about his surroundings. Tonight after we dropped dad off at the train (he is down at the NAMM conference for the next few days), we were playing in the nursery and I put on the Jose Luis Orozco CD. Owen turned very serious and quiet when he heard the voice singing. He couldn't seem to figure out where it was coming from and it seemed to bother him that there was no person to go with the voice. Funny! About four days into his cold, we realized he was also cutting his first tooth. So he's had a double whammy to start off 2010.

Aunt Jean or "Tia" Jean visited from Jan. 6-11, and was here for Owen's baptism. We had many adventures with her and we miss her already! Owen was baptized this past Sunday, January 10th. I will post about it separately soon.

I guess I should try to sleep a bit before morning hits. Please pray for those working to put things back together again in Haiti.
