Owen's Monkey Business

Tonight Derek and I went for our tour of the hospital maternity wing where we will be delivering the baby in about 15 weeks! (aack!) There were about twenty-five people there for the tour so they split us into two groups. First our group visited the post-partum wing and learned about what happens after the baby is born. Then we went over to the Labor and Delivery side and sat in an L and D room (huge) and learned all about what happens there. We also got to visit the nursery and the NICU too. We took a "babymoon" overnight trip this Valentine's weekend down to Carlsbad. We stayed right across from the beach and had time to relax, walk on the beach, eat yummy food, shop, see my cousin C. and her fiance M., and even go to the beautiful new Encinitas library! It was a great pre-parenting getaway! Now that I'm home, I'm starting to do the heavy-duty research on what we need and don't need, and I'm realizing I don't know much! For instance-how many bottles do we need? What's the difference between travel systems, infant car seats, bases and convertible car seats? Who knew that I didn't know? Not me! Wish us luck!!

I really want to add a frame to fit the top of the vintage Singer sewing machine for a changing table. The machine actually has a beautiful cabinet with drawers that I would want to utilize, just add a frame to the damaged cover of the cabinet and voila! The cushion for the high chair below. We saw this high chair at a friend's house and fell in love; it can be used from ages 6 mos. to 3 years and then it converts to a youth chair after age 3. This shows a similar view to what our nursery looks like from the hall. The front-facing bookshelf I posted below is hanging on the left wall in white. We are imagining putting a chair in about the same spot. We had a fun pregnancy milestone this week; we saw my belly move from outside when little one was kicking/pushing it from inside! That was wild, freaky and oh so cool! Feeling bigger every day; baby should double his weight in the next week from what I read. We are getting excited to meet him in just a few more months! We received an amazing box of baby boy clothes and maternity gear from my dear college bud K; opening it made us both so excited! Thanks, K! I thought I would post a few ideas we are thinking about for baby gear- we are trying not to go overboard. This is from Pottery Barn and I love the idea of storing some books with covers facing out. It comes in white too but this color would match better though it may be too dark for a baby's room? (Crib is dark wood) These three are from Fisher-Price's zen collection. The green and brown color theme matches exactly but these things wouldn't be used in the nursery anyway. We are trying to decide whether to go with...

We have been singing lullabies to the baby of late; he is very active and moving around a lot! We enjoyed going out for Dim Sum with A and J on Saturday (A is my cousin who is one week behind me; due May 27!) We took a bump pic together that I will post here soon!
