Owen's Monkey Business

Owen is 11 weeks today. This was a busy week for him as he has started really grabbing onto things and holding them. He lifts his head much higher and holds it steadier too! He loves books and grabs the edges of the pages. He also loves being outside and it immediately relaxes him if he is fussy, which doesn't happen too often. He is growing so fast we think he may only fit in the bassinet in our room for another week or two at the most. Almost time to move to his crib in his own room! He has been taking naps there during the day already to get used to it. He eats every 2-4 hours about 3-4 oz. at a time for between 7-9 feedings per day. He and I are on our own today and tomorrow as daddy is flying to Chicago right now for a quick business trip.

In an effort to figure out how people are getting Owen info/pix, I am trying to find out who reads this blog regularly and uses it as their main way to keep up with our family. I am finding "photo management" to be much more difficult than getting enough sleep as a new mommy! Currently I am using facebook and this blog to share pix. I am building a Shutterfly share site as well, mainly for several people who don't use facebook or read the blog as much. If you read this, could you please leave a comment to this post or send me an email to let me know: 1. How do you like to keep up with us- Junebug blog, Casaluna blog, facebook, email, or a combination? 2. Would you want to be invited to a Shutterfly sharesite and there you can opt to receive emails when we add new pix? I don't want to bombard people with photos but at the same time love the idea that they are there for people to access when they have time or inclination. Thanks for your help with this!

Last weekend Alice, Justin and Oqwe came up from LA to go to the concert in the park with us. It was Journey cover band and it was packed! We had a great time.

Family Birthday! On July 30 we celebrated our third wedding anniversary and first celebration of family birthday! We spent the afternoon at the pool, then went to Barnes and Noble and out to dinner at Kabuki.

Owen turned two months old yesterday on the first day of school. He went to his 2 month appt. today and here are his stats: weight: 12 lbs. 1 oz. (75th percentile) length: 24 1/4 inches (90th percentile) head circ.: 40 cm. (50th percentile) He had a great first week with grandma and grandpa Prichard, and got to "talk" to Gramp Joe on Skype this week too! He loves smiling and cooing and being outside. He is lifting up his head pretty well and rolled from front to back once on Sunday (kind of by accident I think!) Mom went back to work on Monday. So far so good.

Owen turned eight weeks old yesterday and it was our dry run for me going back to work on Monday so we followed the morning schedule like we will next week. My parents got here at 7 and I headed out to work until 12:30. On Monday and Tuesday they will actually be here from 7-5 and 7-6:30 but the rest of the week should be 7-4 except Thursday when we all meet at the dr.'s office for his 2 month appt. at 4 pm~ Here is what's new at eight weeks: Owen loves to look at the pages of books and smiles and coos during reading. He recognizes mom and dad and gives us big smiles! He is sleeping a lot when grandma and grandpa are here but taking the pumped milk bottles just fine! According to my home scale weighing methods, he is between 12 and 13 pounds, but we'll find out for sure Thursday at the doctor!

Look what arrived in the post from Hawaii today! My Aunt Susie (dad's sister) made this. It turned out so beautiful and matches the nursery perfectly! Thanks Susie...
