Jean's visit

Image
We had so much fun when Tia Jean came to visit! Now we just need to get the rest of the family out here! Jean came with us to see the Dr. for Owen's first cold. Here they are in the waiting room. After the doctor, we headed to Ojai. (see previous post) She was also here for Owen's baptism on January 10. (see next post)

O's 2nd Visit to Ojai

Image
When Jean was here the first week of January we took a drive to Ojai to see Aunt Carol and Uncle Alan, Bruce's dad's sister. We enjoyed the visit at their home, followed by lunch at a sweet outdoor eatery and a visit to the local park, where O. tried out the infant swing for the second time and a toddler slide for the first time (we held him going down, of course!)

Waving

Owen has been practicing waving. When daddy got home from work O waved as soon as he saw him. We tried to catch it on video but this is as good as we could get. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone

A Rainy Day off

It's been raining all night; the perfect weather for sleeping. We had a busy day yesterday; church in the morning followed by lots of playing and napping in the afternoon topped off with a visit to grandma and grandpa's before grandma heads to Florida for a board meeting this week. Owen has been going to bed at 8 for the past several nights. He slept straight through for nine hours last Wed. and Thurs. nights and has been waking 1-2 times since. This is a bit earlier than his old 9 pm bedtime. Eight is working out well, but I know it will be tough sometimes to keep that routine. Ever since I was a babysitter the bedtime routine has been my favorite time of day with kids. I looked forward to establishing that peaceful time with my own child someday. Here is our routine so far: 7:30 Quiet play in his room for five or ten minutes 7:45 change into pj's, snuggle into the glider for 2-3 books. Owen has an amazing attention span for a seven-month old (I think). He looks clo...

up all night

me that is. Baby is sleeping fine. Has been since 8:15 last night. This is the longest uninterrupted stretch of sleep he's had since he got his first cold around new Year's day. For the past couple of weeks, he's been waking up every hour to two hours. Now we are going on seven! Can't believe it. So of course, momma's awake because she can't believe baby's asleep. hmm. Owen turned seven months old yesterday. (technically two days ago on the 12th, but since I'm posting in the middle of the night it seems like yesterday.) It was also the day of the tragic earthquake in Haiti, an event that has been on my mind heavily. So many lives have changed or been lost. I have been up tonight reading blogs of people (mostly Christian missionaries) living there. Owen at seven months He is a happy, smiley, giggly but pensive boy. He is very focused and curious about his surroundings. Tonight after we dropped dad off at the train (he is down at the NAMM conference fo...

New year, new fun!

So far, here's what's "new" for Owen in the new year. *tried out the infant swing at the local playground *slid down the slide on momma's lap at the same park *bananas *** *sippy cup! *going to the barber shop with daddy "new" things for momma: *using the lowering mechanism on the crib (we had to lower the mattress finally last week) Happy New Year! ***seem to be the food he has enjoyed the most the soonest. (does that make sense?) If you haven't visited the blog in a while, be sure to scroll down and check "older posts" as I've finally caught up on adding photos and posts from the holidays!
