Owen's Monkey Business

Just a bunch of special moments. First time in the FUN cart at Whole Foods "Show us your funny face Owen. Your REALLY funny face!" Making pizza with momma My first P,B.and J! (It was shaped like a star.) Cousin Oqwe and Tia Alice come for a visit! "didi" (that's what Owen calls "baby" i.e. the one in momma's belly) First time eating with training chopsticks (Dec. 26, 2010) Movie night at Grandma and Grandpa's. My first movie, Toy Story. We watched only the first hour, then it got too scary. I love my new boots! If you're happy and you know it! sitting at my table. I eat lots of meals and snacks here. Owen is 15 months old now and we are just having a blast! He understands so much and has become such a helpful little guy. He helps unload the dryer by bringing folded clothes to particular people and hands us clean dishes to put away from the dishwasher. He is very good at putting things away where they belong and doesn't like things out of place. Hmmm, wonder where he got that from? Himself I think. For example, if he sees something out of place he points at it and grunts or brings it to us or in some cases picks it up and points to the garbage (in the case of food under his highchair). He is a neat eater and puts spilled food back in his bowl too. It bewilders me sometimes. He still loves brooms and vaccuums and loves to help sweep up (usually the pile of dirt I've already swept). Yesterday he spent a good half hour with an outdoor broom sweeping puddles in the gutter. He had a blast. We are very lucky with him because he doesn't put things in his mouth ever (like c...

It's true what they say- ten months is a barrel of laughs! Owen has been having so much fun this month. *He enjoys going up (and down) the stairs. *He stands and pushes things around the room like the laundry basket and his highchair. *He got two top teeth, bringing the total to four. *He loves to brush his teeth, and knows to get his toothbrush out of his monkey cup when I set him on the side of the sink. (I sing, "brusha brusha brusha, new Ipana toothpaste" to him while he brushes" Nothing like a jingle to get you moving!) *He loves to eat cut up blueberries and salmon! *He spent this month practicing eating finger foods on his own. It took him a while to pick up cheerios etc. and put them in his mouth on his own. He would feed us, or if they were on the floor lean over and pick them up with his mouth! so cute! *He will use a spoon to feed himself if the food is on it. He has experimented with putting the spoon in the food container to "reload". *He stil...

On Friday Owen will be nine months old. We can hardly believe it. Just in the past three days we have seen big changes in our little guy. Friday night we went in his room and there he was standing up in the crib as if he had always done it. Since then bedtime hasn't been the same. The second he is put in the crib (whether very sleepy or not) he instantly rolls over and jumps up ready to play and conquer the world. Needless to say we've been a bit challenged by this. O. has been doing the army crawl for several weeks, and is starting to get up on hands and knees a bit more, though not really crawling yet. He can get around the house just fine, and is curious about EVERYTHING! Nothing is beyond his notice. The house has taken on the look and feel of a preschool. So fun! Two Sundays ago we had a playdate with Camilla Rose and Liam, both two weeks younger than O., and their moms Carmen and Hannah.

Owen turned two months old yesterday on the first day of school. He went to his 2 month appt. today and here are his stats: weight: 12 lbs. 1 oz. (75th percentile) length: 24 1/4 inches (90th percentile) head circ.: 40 cm. (50th percentile) He had a great first week with grandma and grandpa Prichard, and got to "talk" to Gramp Joe on Skype this week too! He loves smiling and cooing and being outside. He is lifting up his head pretty well and rolled from front to back once on Sunday (kind of by accident I think!) Mom went back to work on Monday. So far so good.
